Take the 'prokimea' in Chios; walking through it nowdays is like walking down the grubbier streets of Piraeus - it's dirty, messy , so loud etc Our ancestors must be turning in their graves...

I am looking for anyone who knows of my Grandfather's family on Chios. Nicholas Chandris left the island in 1916 for the United States. He has a half-brother, Peter, who stayed on the island. I know Nicholas had cousins on the island, but the family tree and history were lost when he passed in 1945. Any information will be helpful, as my father's health is failing. We would like to take him "home" before he cannot travel abroad, and hopefully meet some family.

I've been to Chios almost every year for the past 10 years but unfortunatelly I am unable to come and visit my beautiful island this year. I may not be there physically but my heart and thoughts are in Chios every day and look forward to next year. To all my fellow chiotes in Chios I wish you a great summer.

If there are still non-believers that Xios is the summer place to be, then you must have just landed from alien territory. The island not only has beauty but beautiful people as well. August is my month, and I still cant't wait after visiting there year after year for the past 30 years. Other islands may have the tourists, but we have the Xiotes loyalty. Wishing you a great summer on our special island, and a big thanks to my friend Mary for showing me this site.

Just returned from my first trip overseas. Spent a week in Chios and loved the charm of this beautiful island and was impressed by the friendliness and hospitality of the local people. Definitely plan to return.

Just returned from a month in Chios and as always had wonderful vacation. I love and appreciate the spectacular natural beauty of Chios and the very special people of Chios. Having regularly visited Chios for the past 31 years I am always interested in all that happens in Chios...It was a pleasure this year to see the success of the "clean streets" campaign in Chios. To maintain neighborhoods for the benefit of neighbors and selves should be the motivator and not to please the tourists. When you are planning changes in Chios I hope your priorities will be the welfare and lives of the very special Chiotes and not the tourists who are there for only a very short time.

Looking for any LALLAS family or anyone with knowledge of this family from Melanios. My grandfather came to United States in early 1900's, leaving a wife and several children in Greece. The children eventually moved to Thessaloniki in the 1950's. Maybe some are still in Chios. My grandfathers name was Panayiotis Lallas. He had a son named Apostolas Lallas who had a daughter named Maria Lallas. Maria Lallas had a cousin named Evage Lie TRIANTAFYLLOU.
